Prison authorities in Israel released 39 Palestinian detainees on Sunday. Television images showed released detainees being welcomed home in Israeli-annexed East Jerusalem. The most prominent was Israa Jaabis, 38, who embraced her family after having served eight years in prison. She had been convicted of detonating a gas cylinder in her car at a checkpoint in 2015, wounding a police officer, and was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
