Iraq’s governing State Administration Coalition has backed continued efforts to bring all weapons under state control and prevent attacks on neighbouring states from taking place inside the country. In a statement issued by the prime minister’s media office, the coalition said using weapons without state authorisation or forming armed groups outside the official security forces constituted a constitutional violation. “Anyone who threatens the country’s security will be considered an outlaw who must be confronted,” it said.
