Recent intense fighting in Amhara, the state of Ethiopia, indicates that the war that began in Tigray is extending in the region. It is reported that federal forces and Amhara troops were fighting against Tigray agitators despite a unilateral ceasefire that had been declared by the government. Both sides are accusing each other of spreading conflict. Authorities around the country have also been urged to join the fight.
