According to Indian media sources, an Indian Army helicopter carrying Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat crashed in Tamil Nadu’s Coonoor on Wednesday.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) verified the development in a tweet.

“An inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident,” the statement continued.

According to India Today, three persons were rescued from the wreckage, all of them were seriously injured. The injured have been relocated to the Wellington cantonment for medical attention.
