⁠German ⁠Chancellor Friedrich Merz has called on Israel to ⁠exercise restraint in its campaign in southern Lebanon, as Israel’s attacks and incursion into Lebanese territory expand and the civilian death toll mounts. Merz said Germany viewed the latest ⁠escalation in ⁠the south of the country with ⁠great concern, and he urged Hezbollah to ‌lay down its arms, in comments carried by the Reuters news agency.
