A ship bearing 200 tonnes of food aid for civilians in Gaza is still waiting at a port in Cyprus, with Israeli authorities seeking permission to inspect it. The vessel, which belongs to the Spanish NGO Open Arms, is in Larnaca. It is carrying rice and flour that could provide immediate relief to Gazans struggling with starvation. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the Open Arms ship would make a pilot trip to supply the besieged territory.
