Four members of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council have rejected the move by council chief al-Alimi to declare a state of emergency and expel UAE forces from the country. Lieutenant General Tariq Saleh, Major-General Aidarus al-Zubaidi, Major-General Abu Zara’a al-Mahrami, and Major-General Faraj al-Bahsani said in a joint statement that the council chief violated a power transfer agreement. “The UAE has been and remains a key partner in confronting the Houthi project,” they said, adding that any attempt to “demonise or disavow” the positive role played by the country only serves the enemies of Yemen.
