The first batch of polio vaccines has arrived in Gaza, the enclave’s health ministry announced on Sunday evening. The 1.26 million doses arrived in the war-torn strip via the UN’s children agency, Unicef, and have been placed in a warehouse ahead of the expected arrival of another 365,000 doses in the coming days. Gaza’s first case of polio in 25 years was recorded earlier this month as the UN called for a ceasefire to launch a vaccination campaign.
