Addis Ababa: On March 25, it emerged that the defiant Tigrayan forces in Ethiopia announced to respect a ceasefire proposed by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government. The truce will last as long as sufficient aid is provided to their war-ravaged northern region “within a reasonable time”. The government in Addis Ababa declared the cessation of hostilities, saying it was to authorize aid to flow into Tigray.
