On Thursday, the cabinet’s hybrid Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) decided to cancel 2.1 million tonnes of wheat imports and allow the recovery of nearly Rs17 billion from energy consumers for the period when the country was hit hard by Covid-19.

The ECC’s Shaukat Tarin-led subcommittee made the judgments, which were stamped by the Omar Ayub-led ECC within minutes under a hybrid setup.
