Istanbul: On Dec 29, political experts speculate that Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan has effectively opened the door to early elections. Two big recent decisions – a deposit-protection scheme that arrested a currency crash and a 50% rise in the minimum wage paved the way for early elections. “We see that this process will be presented as a political leader who beat the dollar and disrupted the game of foreign powers,” an analyst told.
