The fifth wave of the COVID-19 epidemic is wreaking havoc in Karachi, with the city’s positive rate reaching 18 percent on Tuesday morning, the highest in the country.

The coronavirus situation in Karachi has begun to deteriorate, with the city reporting 805 confirmed cases after 4,469 tests were completed in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s coronavirus positivity rate stayed above 3% for the third day in a row, as COVID-19’s Omicron variant spreads across the country, pushing infection rates higher.
