Islamabad: On Nov 23, Pakistan’s outgoing army chief rejected “fake and false” claims by ousted prime minister Imran Khan that a U.S.-backed conspiracy had toppled his government. He also said that the military would play no role in national politics in the future. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa’s comments came at one of his farewell addresses at the military’s headquarters in the garrison city of Rawalpindi, which lies next to the capital Islamabad.
