Britney Spears reclaimed control of her personal life and money on Friday, after a judge ended a 13-year conservatorship that had been a cause celebre for fans and critics of the arrangement, which is generally used to protect the elderly.
“The conservatorship of Britney Jean Spears’ person and estate is hereby terminated,” Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny announced after a 30-minute session in which no one objected to the court-ordered arrangement being ended.
