US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with Israeli war cabinet minister Benny Gantz and discussed efforts to boost and accelerate the transit of critical humanitarian assistance into Gaza, the State Department stated. The two men discussed efforts to prevent the conflict from widening and to secure the release of hostages. Mr Blinken also stressed the urgent need for affirmative steps to de-escalate tension in the West Bank, including by confronting rising levels of settler extremist violence, the department stated.
