Australia, New Zealand and Canada issued a joint statement on Friday to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The statement condemned the October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas, urging the group to lay down its arms and release all remaining hostages. The countries also urged Israel to “listen to the concerns of the international community”. “An immediate ceasefire is needed desperately. Civilians must be protected and a sustained increase in the flow of assistance throughout Gaza is needed to address the humanitarian situation,” they said.
