Ariana Afghan Airlines started daily flights from Kabul to Dubai on Monday, resuming a popular international route that had been closed since the Taliban’s August triumph over the Western-backed government.

Ariana will fly daily and charge $550 for a one-way ticket, according to the state-run airline’s Facebook page.

According to a spokesman, tickets for the first flight, which was scheduled to depart at 4.30 p.m. local time on Monday, were in high demand (1200 GMT). For the time being, Ariana will only operate international flights to Dubai.
