The officials reported on Sunday that the furious villagers in India burned army autos in protest after more than a dozen people were slain by soldiers who mistakenly believed them militants in the country’s distant northeast region along the border with Myanmar. Neiphiu Rio, Nagaland state’s top elected official demanded an investigation of the killings, which occurred on Saturday. “The unfortunate incident leading to the killing of civilians at Oting is highly condemnable,” he posted on Twitter.
