ISLAMABAD: The National Commission on the Status of Women has called for immediate police action against rising violence, rape and harassment targeting women and girls. Chairperson Noureen Bano Lehri voiced concern over recent cases and urged authorities to ensure swift, transparent and merit-based investigations, effective prosecution and timely justice. The commission also proposed special courts or dedicated judicial mechanisms for speedy case disposal, warning that negligence, delays or investigative failures would not be tolerated.
