Thabet Al-Ahmadi, adviser of the Yemeni presidency office, told Al Jazeera that the developments about al-Zubaidi did not come “as a surprise”. “From the very first day, al-Zubaidi has been in conflict with his peers and colleagues within the STC,” al-Ahmadi claimed, adding that the STC head did not come from a political background and that he “suddenly jumped into politics”. “Based on reports we’re getting from the ground, it is very likely that he had left for good,” al-Ahmadi said, adding that he “handed over the military leadership to two young men [Mukhtar] al-Noubi and [Moamen] al-Saqaf”.
