The UN said that a total internet blackout in Gaza had paralysed aid operations and was endangering civilian lives. “Lifelines to emergency services, humanitarian co-ordination, and critical information for civilians have all been cut. There is a full internet blackout and mobile networks are barely functioning,” UN spokesman Farhan Haq said. “In a context already limited by physical access restrictions and widespread damage, emergency services are cut off and civilians cannot access life-saving support,” it added.
