Israel said it intercepted a missile launched from Yemen on Monday, as the Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for the attack aimed at Ben Gurion International Airport, near Tel Aviv. “Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in several areas in Israel, a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted,” the Israeli army said, as booms were heard above Jerusalem. Yemen’s Houthis have repeatedly launched missiles and drones at Israel since the Gaza war broke out in October 2023. In a video statement, Houthi spokesman Lt Col Yahya Saree said the group’s “missile force … carried out a military operation” aimed at Israel’s main airport.
