Tom Fletcher, the UN’s under-secretary-general for humanitarian affairs, said on Tuesday that now five trucks of aid went into Gaza on Monday, but repeats that it’s a “drop in the ocean”. He told the BBC that although the aid lorries have crossed into Gaza, they are just on the other side of the border, and haven’t even reached the communities yet. The supplies on the trucks are “baby food and nutrition”, he said. He said 14,000 babies could die in the next 48 hours if the supplies do not reach them.
