The humanitarian situation in Gaza is probably “the worst it has been” since the war with Israel broke out 18 months ago, the UN said. “No supplies have entered Gaza for more than a month, forcing aid workers to ration deliveries to make best use of the remaining stocks,” said the UN’s Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs. It said fuel, water, medicine and other essentials were in short supply, with the closure of border crossings “compounded by restrictions within Gaza”. Israeli troops have cut off parts of Gaza to create buffer zones as part of their resumed offensive.
