Turkey was in talks with Hamas on the release of foreigners and civilians held hostage by the group in Gaza, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated. Speaking alongside his Lebanese counterpart Abdallah Bou Habib in Beirut, Fidan said “many countries” had sent requests to Ankara to secure the release of their citizens. On Monday, Fidan spoke with Hamas senior political leader Ismail Haniyeh to discuss the issue, a Turkish Foreign Ministry source told Reuters.
