After examinations at the DOW University of Health Sciences in Karachi, at least 11 members of a family tested positive for the Omicron strain of coronavirus.

The patients are from Lahore, according to the health authority, and have never travelled outside of Pakistan.

On Thursday, the virus was discovered using next-generation sequencing at the DUHS public health laboratory. The Sindh Health Department was in charge of sending the samples.

The Omicron variant has been connected to an increase in Covid-19 instances, according to health specialists.
