The Yemeni Deputy Justice Minister, Faisal al-Majidi, has told Al Jazeera that the ouster of al-Zubaidi is not intended to target the STC as a whole, which represents various factions across southeast Yemen, but only the individual and his supporters. Al-Majidi also insisted that the move would not lead to a “security vacuum” but would de-escalate tensions, blaming the current uptick in violence on al-Zubaidi.
