Washington: On September 30, the International Monetary Fund said that the Ukraine war’s disruptions to grain and fertilizer flows prompted the worst food security crisis since the 2007-2008 global financial meltdown. “For this year alone, we estimate that highly exposed countries need as much as $7 billion to help the poorest households cope,” IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and other IMF officials said in a blog posting.
