US special Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff on Friday arrived at an aid centre run by the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, Israeli and US media reported. Palestinian civilians have been killed almost daily while waiting for aid near GHF distribution sites. The GHF is backed by the US and Israel. A day before his arrival, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Mr Witkoff, who is being accompanied by US ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, would “inspect the current distribution sites and secure a plan to deliver more food and meet with local Gazans to hear firsthand about this dire situation on the ground”.
