It was reported by the local media that the Indian cricket board's expulsion of Virat Kohli as the One-day International (ODI) captain was inevitable when he refused to leave the captaincy after a bleak T20 World Cup. New Delhi: On Dec 8, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) named opening batsman Rohit Sharma as the new captain of the national One-day International (ODI) squad. Virat Kohli, who is now in charge of only the Test unit, was replaced by him. "The All-India Senior Selection Committee also decided to name Mr. Rohit Sharma as the Captain of the ODI and T20I teams going forward," the BCCI tweeted.
It emerged on Tuesday that Rohit Sharma had been named the new captain of India's T20 team. He replaced Virat Kohli immediately after the team had humiliating defeats from Pakistan and New Zealand. The Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) tweeted Rohit's name while announcing the squad for an upcoming tour by New Zealand.
