Covid-19: Pakistan’s positivity rate below 5% for the first time in a while

Pakistan's COVID-19 positivity rate fell below 5% for the first time in over a month, with only 2,465 new infections reported in the last 24 hours, according to statistics released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Wednesday morning. According to NCOC, after 49,553 diagnostic tests were completed across the country, 2,465 people were determined to be infected with coronavirus. As a result of the decrease in new cases, the country's coronavirus positive rate has dropped to 4.97 percent.  

Air-travel from 9 other countries restricted

As the new Covid-19 strain Omicron spread throughout the globe, Pakistan added nine more countries to category C on Monday, largely from Europe, and enforced air travel restrictions. The Netherlands, Hungary, Ukraine, Ireland, Slovenia, Poland, Croatia, Zimbabwe, and Vietnam are the countries involved. On the other hand, 13 countries have been included in category B. They are the US, United Kingdom, Germany, Azerbaijan, Mexico, Sri Lanka, Russia, Thailand, France, Afghanistan, Trinidad and Tobago, Austria and Turkey. The remaining nations remain in category A.
