Syed Khursheed Shah, leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and former leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, was granted post-arrest bail by the Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday in a case involving the acquisition of assets other than recognized sources of income.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) could not justify holding Khursheed Shah in jail for two years. The court granted release to the PPP leader on an Rs. 10 million surety bond, ruling that the anti-graft body had failed to present any basis for holding him in jail.
