The European Union’s foreign policy chief has welcomed the reopening of the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt as a “lifeline” for sick and wounded Palestinians and a step forward. “The opening of the Rafah crossing marks a concrete and positive step in the peace plan,” said Kaja Kallas. “The EU’s civilian mission is on the ground to monitor crossing operations and support Palestinian border guards,” she added.
