Hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters gathered inside the main courtyard of Cairo’s Al Azhar Mosque on Friday to condemn Israeli’s siege on the Gaza Strip that has left more than 1,500 people dead and thousands injured. “We pledge our souls and our blood to Al Aqsa”, the protesters chanted. In other nearby areas in Cairo’s historic Islamic quarter, smaller protests also erupted, with dozens walking through the streets waving Palestinian flags and chanting anti-Israel slogans.
