The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has surprised the public by announcing an increase in electricity rates.

It has decided to raise the price of power for home customers by Rs 1.68 paise and for commercial and industrial customers by Rs 1.39 paise.

According to NEPRA authorities, the rise would not apply to clients who use less than 200 units per month, but it will take place on November 1, 2021.
