It emerged on Sunday that the clashes between military forces and armed groups had left an unknown number of people dead and injured. According to a military statement, the incident happened at the UNAMID facilities in Sudan’s Darfur region. Witnesses reported hearing heavy gunfire around the perimeter of the headquarters of the former United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in North Darfur but said the number of casualties was unclear.
