Life expectancy in Gaza fell by about 35 years in the first 12 months of the war, a report in the medical journal The Lancet found. Tens of thousands of Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks. Before the conflict, the average life span was 75.5 years but it fell to about 40 years after a year of war. The losses were higher for men, with life expectancy down 38 years, while for women the drop was about 30 years. The researchers used data from the Gaza Health Ministry and the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA).
