Iran’s newly inaugurated President Masoud Pezeshkian said the country was in mourning and hinted at a response from Tehran after a suspected Israeli strike on the capital. Mr Pezeshkian, who was sworn into office yesterday, was seen embracing Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh hours before he was killed in an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps residence north of the capital.
