Dr Ishrat Hussain, the former governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, has expressed doubts about the law giving the central bank authority.

Shaukat Tarin, the Federal Minister of Finance, introduced the SBP Amendment Bill in the NA alongside the supplementary finance bill as a condition for the International Monetary Fund’s $6 billion External Fund Facility (EFF) to be restarted (IMF).

Dr Hussain argued on Geo.tv’s Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath that the monetary and fiscal board should not have been dissolved.
