After its release on Netflix, the South Korean drama DP has gained buzz for revealing the dark side of the country’s required military service. A second season is now in the works.

Some have criticized the program on social media for being exaggerated, even though military life in South Korea has gotten significantly simpler in the last decade.

But, in actuality, incidents of hazing and military suicides have continued to dominate headlines. Just last week, 15 individuals were charged in connection with the death of an air force officer who committed suicide after allegedly being sexually assaulted.
