In order to capitalise on the tremendous popularity of the South Korean Netflix show, a Beijing bakery has established a Squid Game-themed confection-making challenge in its store.
Customers can pretend to be a character from the hit series by participating in a competition to produce the candy, known as dalgona, by attempting to transform a mixture of sugar and baking soda into neatly shaped biscuits for 58 yuan ($9).
There is no incentive for achievement and no penalty for failure, unlike on the TV show, where winners receive a large financial prize and losers are sentenced to death.
