GILGIT: Gilgit-Baltistan’s Wildlife and Parks Department auctioned hunting permits for 117 animals for the 2026-27 trophy hunting season, with an Astore markhor permit fetching a record $356,000. Other markhor permits also attracted high bids. Officials expect to generate Rs650 million from the season, covering three markhors, 14 blue sheep and 100 Himalayan ibexes through April 2027.
