KARACHI: Experts have warned that the Indus Delta is rapidly drying, eroding and sinking as freshwater and sediment supplies decline. Speaking at the launch of Naseer Memon’s book The Disappearing Delta at the Arts Council of Pakistan, speakers said coastal communities in Thatta, Sujawal and Keti Bandar were losing livelihoods and leaving their homes. They cautioned that mangrove loss and seawater intrusion could also increase Karachi’s vulnerability to flooding and climate-related threats.
