The Gaza Health Ministry says at least 360 medical staff have been arrested by Israel since the war began in October 2023. One of those still in Israeli custody is Dr Hossam Abu Safiya, director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, who was been held since December 27, 2024, when he was arrested after refusing repeated orders to leave. “Dr Abu Safiya has lost 40kgm, and suffers from high pressure and a weak heart muscle,” the ministry said, quoting his lawyer.
