Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza has become “one massive trauma ward” as it tries to deal with hundreds of Palestinians wounded near aid distribution sites run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, the World Health Organisation has said. Patients at the hospital in Khan Younis – mainly young boys – are being treated for traumatic injuries, including bullet wounds to the head, chest and knees, said the UN agency. “They’ve seen already for weeks, daily injuries … the majority coming from the so-called safe, non-UN food distribution sites,” said Rik Peeperkorn, WHO representative for the occupied West Bank and Gaza. “The hospital is now operating as one massive trauma ward.”
