Hezbollah deputy leader Naim Qassem said the group supports “political efforts … which work towards a ceasefire” and that all other details can be “discussed and decided upon”. Mr Qassem said that no other discussions can be made before a ceasefire is reached. It is the first time Hezbollah has said it supports a ceasefire without a similar agreement in Gaza. Mr Qassem said “great losses” endured by Israel on the ground in Lebanon “could become a precursor for the end of the war”.
